Rob began his career at UCI as a live-on staff member in Mesa Court in 1976. In 1979, he became Director of Mesa Court Housing, and ultimately, Executive Director for Undergraduate Housing in 1990. He left Student Affairs for Academic Affairs in 2004, becoming Assistant Dean of the School of the Arts. In 2006 he accepted a Management Fellowship in Academic Affairs. After Management Fellow experiences in several Academic Affairs departments, he transitioned to an appointment as Assistant Vice Provost for Academic Planning. The Academic Planning Office is responsible for implementation of the University's Strategic Plan, coordination of new academic program development, and guiding the University through the WASC Accreditation Process. |

The Associate Executive Vice Chancellor reports directly to the Executive Vice Chancellor and acts as Chief of Staff for that office. The AEVC is a member of the Chancellor’s Cabinet, Chancellor’s Advisory Council, Health Sciences Committee, Space Planning Committee, Academic Council, and the Academic Planning Group.
The AEVC counsels the EVCP on budget, space, personnel, academic, and policy issues. The AEVC manages the workflow of the EVCP Office, and assigns action to vice chancellors, vice provosts, deans, and other university officials and offices. The AEVC regularly works informally with deans, vice chancellors, and other administrators to identify and resolve issues and conflicts.
The Associate Executive Vice Chancellor oversees management and staff of the Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost’s Office. Academic Affairs Computing Services, the University Editor’s Office, The Campus Ombuds Office, Health Sciences Ombuds Office, Office of Equal Opportunity and Diversity (OEOD), and Network and Academic Computing Services (NACS) report to this position.
The Associate Executive Vice Chancellor acts as UCI’s Locally Designated Official for overseeing the Improper Government Activities (Whisteleblower) policy.
Michael Arias has been in the Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost since August 1998. Prior to that, his 29-year UCI career included eight years as Assistant Dean in the School of Social Sciences and nine years as Director of Academic Budget. In 2001, he received UCI’s Lauds and Laurels recognition for outstanding Staff Achievement.

Robin began her career at UCI in 1998 when she joined the Office of the Vice Chancellor, Administrative & Business Services. In that position she conducted special management studies and handled projects at the central and department levels. In August 2006 she joined the Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost in the Space Management unit. In this position she conducts complex space analyses to assess the short and long-range space and housing needs of the campus and assists in developing strategies and plans to meet those needs. In addition, conducts research, interprets and updates data, and reviews and amends policy, as it pertains to space and housing needs of the campus. |

Mary Chappell-Davee began her service in the UC system in 1990 and came to UCI in 2000 after 10 years at UCSD. She reviews all financial documents sent to the Executive Vice Chancellor & Provost from academic units requesting approval for exceptions to university policy. She is also the liaison between academic units and the Human Resources Office for merit/service reviews for all non-academic staff in academic schools and departments. She is the Academic Affairs DSA (Department Security Administrator) for the campus SAMS (Security Access Management System) which controls access to campus business data systems. Mary is also the payroll and benefits coordinator for the Office of Academic Affairs and the Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost's Office, as well as, coordinator for the UCI Speakers Bureau. |

Mike Clark joined the faculty at UCI in 1983 and was appointed AEVC in 2000. As head of academic planning for the campus, he is responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of new academic programs, and for working with faculty and administrators in existing units to extend or modify their current programs. He also chairs the Academic Planning Group, which advises the Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost on the allocation of new faculty positions and on other strategic planning issues. |

Cynthia Hoffman started her career in the Cashiering Office at UCIMC in 1979; in 1992, she transferred to the general campus to work as an analyst in the Academic Budget Office. She moved to the Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost's Office in 2000, and is currently responsible for its operational budget as well as planning and project management of space renovations for the Office of Academic Affairs. Cynthia's other duties include providing staff support to various program development committees and executive search committees, and budget management for several programs. |

Dave is retired, but has returned as the Associate Executive Vice Chancellor of Space Management. His primary responsibility is to collect, refine, organize, analyze, and report on campus housing and space data. In this role Dave manages the campus temporary space needs to support construction and renovation projects that are currently in the LRDP (Long Range Development Plan). He reports directly to the Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost.
Previously, he was Associate Vice Chancellor of Administrative and Business Services and Assistant Vice Chancellor – Administrative Computing Services, and Director – Electronic Communications Services in what is now NACS. You may also recognize him from the University Club, where he has been the Executive Director for the past two years. At the time of his retirement, he had been with UCI for over 38 years, with most of his career involved in managing information technology.
He was a member of the EDUCAUSE Advisory Group on Administrative Information Systems and Services, as well as numerous UC committees and task forces. He currently serves on the board of ICHA (Irvine Campus Housing Authority), and the UC Irvine University Club. He holds an M.A. in Public Administration from California State University, Fullerton and a B.A. in Mathematics from UC Irvine. |
